Nathaniel Dewayne Meashintubby, a resident of McAlester, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 77 months in prison for felony assault. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma confirmed that Meashintubby, 42, received his sentence for assaulting a spouse, intimate partner, or dating partner by strangling, suffocating, or attempting to do so.

The case followed an investigation conducted by the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office, the Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Meashintubby pleaded guilty to the charge on November 18, 2024.

Authorities reported that the assault, which resulted in serious bodily injury, took place on March 10, 2024, in LeFlore County. The incident occurred within the boundaries of the Choctaw Nation Reservation, located in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White presided over the sentencing hearing in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Meashintubby will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until he is transferred to a facility under the United States Bureau of Prisons to serve his non-paroleable sentence.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael E. Robinson.
