A federal grand jury in Huntsville, Alabama, has charged eight individuals with immigration-related crimes, as announced by U.S. Attorney Prim Escalona. The indictments involve illegal reentry into the United States after previous deportations.
The accused are identified as Gilmar Araldo Elias, 45, from Guatemala; Faustino Discua-Reyes, 38, from Honduras; Roger Manuel Jarquin, 28, from Nicaragua; Rigoberto Miranda-Gutierrez, 43, from Mexico; Miguel Perdomo Sanchez, 27, from Mexico; Luis Miguel Olivera Hernandez, 36, from Mexico; Milton Obdulio Ramirez, 31, from Honduras; and Angel Techomahua-Amador, 36, from Mexico.
These charges are part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aiming to address illegal immigration and associated crimes. The operation involves resources from the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhoods. The Homeland Security Investigations - Atlanta and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Nashville Field Division are involved in the investigation.
"An indictment contains only charges. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty," the announcement stated.
