Tre Enrique Jackson, a 31-year-old resident of the District, received a 58-month federal prison sentence for unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. U.S. District Judge Ana C. Reyes also ruled that Jackson must complete three years of supervised release following his prison term.
The sentencing was disclosed by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr., alongside Chief Pamela A. Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
MPD officers executed a search warrant on September 18, 2023, at a residence where Jackson was staying. During the search, they found a Glock-style Privately Manufactured Firearm, known as a ghost gun, in a backpack that Jackson had carried earlier. The firearm, designed for 9mm ammunition, was loaded with one round in the chamber and 12 rounds in a 17-round capacity magazine.
Jackson's criminal background revealed that he was under supervised release in D.C. Superior Court for an earlier gun-related offense. This led to his arrest, with DNA tests confirming the presence of his DNA on the seized firearm.
Assistant U.S. Attorney James B. Nelson prosecuted the case following an investigation by the MPD.
