U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo has announced that Erin Cameron, a 33-year-old resident of Buffalo, has been sentenced to 132 months in prison following his conviction for drug trafficking and firearm possession charges. U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. issued the sentence.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, who prosecuted the case, detailed that between July and December 2018, Cameron conspired with others to distribute heroin and fentanyl. Cameron also provided butyryl fentanyl for subsequent distribution. A controlled purchase took place on October 22, 2018, involving suspected heroin or fentanyl from Cameron's associate. On December 30, 2018, Cameron, while carrying a pistol and narcotics consisting of acetyl fentanyl, crack cocaine, and oxycodone, traveled from Buffalo to Salamanca, NY, intending to distribute these substances. The Salamanca Police apprehended Cameron, recovering the firearm and narcotics.
The investigation was conducted by several agencies, including the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Services, and the Southern Tier Drug Regional Task Force, led by Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quattrone. The Drug Enforcement Administration, under Special Agent-in-Charge Frank Tarentino from the New York Field Division, and the Salamanca Police Department, directed by Chief Jamie Deck, were also involved.
