Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson has announced an indictment unsealed on April 9, 2025, against Kyrin Hudson, a 29-year-old resident of Tangipahoa Parish. Hudson is charged with distributing fentanyl, which resulted in the death of an individual. The charge is in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(C).

If found guilty, Hudson could face a mandatory minimum prison term of 20 years, extending up to life imprisonment, a fine up to $1,000,000, at least three years of supervised release, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.

Simpson commended the Drug Enforcement Administration Fentanyl Overdose Response Team, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Hammond Police Department for their roles in this case. The prosecution is under the supervision of Assistant United States Attorneys Lauren Sarver and Rachal Cassagne from the Narcotics Unit.

This case forms part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and targeting violent crime. Operation Take Back America works with resources from the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.
