Andrew Snyder, a 46-year-old resident of Canastota, New York, has received a 60-month federal prison sentence. The sentence comes after he conspired to distribute methamphetamine and a heroin/fentanyl mixture, and illegally possessed firearms as an unlawful user of controlled substances.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III, Bryan Miller, Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Division of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), and Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood.
According to Snyder's guilty plea, from October 2020 to May 17, 2022, he worked with his wife, Jessica Snyder, to distribute methamphetamine and a heroin/fentanyl mixture from their garage in Madison County. On May 17, 2022, Snyder, while using controlled substances such as methamphetamine, had two 9mm handguns and ammunition in his possession.
Chief United States District Judge Brenda K. Sannes mandated a 4-year supervised release for Snyder following his prison term. Jessica Snyder's sentencing is on the docket for April 24, 2025.
The ATF and Madison County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation, with the Drug Enforcement Administration and New York State Police providing support. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Thomas R. Sutcliffe and Matthew J. McCrobie handled the prosecution.
