Federal authorities have charged Carlos Eduardo Pineda-Morales of Denton, Texas, with offenses related to child pornography. According to a recently unsealed indictment, the 34-year-old allegedly utilized a communications application, a cloud storage service, and his digital devices to receive and access child pornography between October 7 and October 30, 2024.
This announcement was made by Matthew R. Galeotti, Head of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, in conjunction with Acting U.S. Attorney Abe McGlothin Jr. for the Eastern District of Texas. The indictment followed an investigation conducted by the FBI Dallas Office – Frisco Resident Agency, along with the Denton Police Department.
Trial Attorney McKenzie Hightower from the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Marisa Miller for the Eastern District of Texas are handling the prosecution.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative launched in May 2006 aimed at addressing child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project involves collaboration among federal, state, and local resources to prosecute offenders and rescue victims. Further information on Project Safe Childhood is available at www.justice.gov/psc.
It should be noted that an indictment is not evidence of guilt, and all defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
