A Carnegie, Pennsylvania resident has been indicted in Pittsburgh by a federal grand jury on charges related to tax evasion and failure to file tax returns, as revealed by Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.
The Indictment identifies Caesar Tavoletti III, aged 42, as the defendant. It accuses Tavoletti of evading taxes for the tax years 2018 through 2020 and deliberately not filing tax returns from 2018 to 2021.
If convicted, Tavoletti could face a maximum sentence of five years in prison per tax evasion count, along with a fine that could reach $250,000 or twice the gross gain or loss from the offense. Sentencing would consider the seriousness of the crimes and any previous criminal record of the defendant, in accordance with federal Sentencing Guidelines.
Assistant United States Attorney William Guappone is managing the case for the prosecution. The investigation that resulted in the indictment was carried out by the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation.
It is important to note that an indictment is merely an accusation, and a defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty.
