Stephen Nuciolo Jr., an 18-year-old resident of Bridport, Vermont, faces a charge of second-degree murder. Announced by the Attorney General’s Office, Nuciolo is accused of shooting his father, Stephen Nuciolo Sr., on January 24, 2024, at their home in Bridport.

At the arraignment, Nuciolo exercised his right to the 24-hour rule, delaying his plea entry by one day. Judge Robert Katims ordered that all parties reconvene on April 16 for the plea hearing. The Attorney General's Office, representing the State of Vermont, has expressed no opposition to possible consideration of the defendant as a youthful offender.

Nuciolo remains held without bail pending the next hearing where the court will decide on bail and potential release.

The Attorney General's Office stressed, “individuals charged with a crime are legally presumed innocent until their guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.”
