David Eddy, a resident of Manchester, New Hampshire, was sentenced to 210 months in federal prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, for offenses related to child exploitation. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden in New Haven, as announced by Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
The court heard that in September 2022, Eddy sexually abused a minor, approximately five years old, using his phone to capture photographs of the abuse. An analysis of the phone uncovered over 150 images and videos depicting child sexual abuse involving the victim and other children.
Eddy was arrested on state charges on October 5, 2022, and pleaded guilty in federal court on September 25, 2024, to production and possession of child pornography. He has remained in custody since his arrest, and state charges are still pending.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations alongside the Simsbury Police Department, with support from the Manchester Police Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Anastasia E. King and Nancy V. Gifford.
"This prosecution is part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood Initiative, which is aimed at protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation," stated officials. Individuals are encouraged to report child exploitation at www.cybertipline.com.
