Attorney General Dave Sunday has announced charges against a Montgomery County insurance agent accused of fabricating hundreds of life insurance policies to earn over $600,000 in commissions.

Dennis Wright, 42, from Glenside, is facing several serious charges, including felony theft by deception, identity theft, and insurance fraud. These charges were filed on Monday, and Wright has been arraigned with bail set at $100,000.

“This defendant betrayed clients and dishonored his position to line his own pockets when he was trusted to make insurance arrangements that would have provided peace of mind and financial security for Pennsylvanians,” said Attorney General Sunday. “Insurance fraud is far from a victimless crime, and my office takes it very seriously.”

The Office of Attorney General began an investigation that uncovered Wright’s activities between June 2020 and February 2022. It was found that Wright exploited his role as a licensed life insurance agent to defraud National Guardian Life Insurance (NGL).

Wright is accused of creating 332 fraudulent life insurance policies by forging personal information and signatures without the consent or knowledge of the individuals involved. Furthermore, he allegedly established businesses to launder $603,000 in commissions received from NGL.

Deputy Attorney General Jose Perez is prosecuting the case. It is essential to remember that these charges are merely allegations, and Wright, as a defendant, is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
