A coordinated effort by federal, state, and local law enforcement has led to the arrest of a Providence man and the seizure of two kilograms of cocaine. Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom confirmed the detention of 35-year-old Eluid Rosa-Escudero, who faces a federal charge of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.
The investigation, which spanned three months and involved multiple agencies, culminated on April 10th with a court-approved search of Rosa-Escudero’s home. Authorities discovered two kilograms of cocaine, $10,000 in cash, and items linked to narcotics trafficking.
Court documents indicate that law enforcement had monitored the delivery of a U.S. Postal Service package to a Providence residence. After the package was picked up by someone who then drove to a nearby gas station to meet Rosa-Escudero, both vehicles were tracked. Rosa-Escudero was subsequently followed to his home, while East Providence Police conducted a stop on the vehicle driven by the package retriever, identified as a 15-year-old.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Christine D. Lowell is leading the prosecution with the support of Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise M. Barton. The investigation is conducted by the United States Postal Inspection Service Contraband Interdiction and Investigations Task Force, in cooperation with local law enforcement bodies.
The charges against Rosa-Escudero are based on a criminal complaint, which serves as an accusation. He is presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
This case falls under "Operation Take Back America," a nationwide strategy employing Department of Justice resources to combat illegal immigration, eradicate cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and safeguard communities from violent crime. The initiative aligns efforts from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.
