Aliakbar Mohammad Amin from Lilburn, Georgia, has been charged with transmitting threats to injure Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard and her family. The arrest follows a criminal complaint relating to threats sent via text messages between March 29 and April 1, 2025. Amin is alleged to have sent messages including statements such as, “You and your family are going to die soon” and “Prepare to die, you, Tulsi, and everyone you hold dear. America will burn.”
Acting U.S. Attorney Richard S. Moultrie, Jr. emphasized the gravity of the offense: “Threatening to harm public officials is a criminal act that cannot be excused as political discourse,” adding that the office, together with law enforcement partners, will prosecute such acts vigorously.
Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta, Paul Brown, reiterated the seriousness with which the FBI views threatening communications: “The FBI sees all threatening communications as a serious federal offense. We will employ every investigative tool and resource available to identify those responsible and ensure they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” Brown also issued a warning stating, “Let this arrest serve as a clear warning: if you engage in this kind of criminal behavior, you will be caught and you will go to prison.”
During their investigation, federal agents found similar threats made by Amin on social media, including images of firearms pointed at photographs of DNI Gabbard and her husband. A firearm was also recovered from Amin’s home during a search.
On April 11, 2025, Amin was officially charged under Title 18, United States Code, Section 875(c). After making an initial appearance in federal court, he was ordered detained pending trial by a U.S. Magistrate Judge.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation into this case. It is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice to protect communities from violent crime and combat illegal immigration and criminal organizations.
