Dezstiny Collins, a resident of Pine Bluff, has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for perjury. The sentencing was announced by Jonathan D. Ross, the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, and was conducted on April 10, 2025, by United States District Judge Brian S. Miller.
Collins, 29, was indicted by a federal grand jury on August 3, 2022, on charges of making false declarations before a grand jury. She pleaded guilty to the perjury charge on December 5, 2024.
Collins had been subpoenaed to testify on March 2, 2022, in a federal investigation concerning ammunition possessed by convicted felons. This investigation was linked to a shooting and homicide in Pine Bluff. Despite video evidence showing her presence with the suspects on February 26, 2019, Collins repeatedly denied being with them during her testimony. She later admitted at a plea hearing that her previous testimony was false.
Judge Miller also assigned Collins a three-year supervised release period following her prison term. It is noted that the federal system does not have a parole provision.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, with support from the FBI and the Pine Bluff Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Amanda Fields prosecuted the case in the Eastern District of Arkansas.
