A federal jury in Tulsa has convicted Prophet Kelly Lamar Clark, age 52, of unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition. The conviction stems from an incident in October 2024, when Tulsa Police responded to a 911 call about an armed suspect, later identified as Clark.

During the trial, evidence indicated that officers found Clark with a loaded magazine. An officer testified that upon arrival, Clark was seen walking away from the 911 caller's home. The officer noticed Clark holding a pair of keys and a loaded magazine in his right hand. Although Clark did not respond initially when questioned about possessing a weapon, he later indicated that a firearm was on his right side.

A purple handgun was recovered from Clark's right side. Further investigation confirmed Clark's identity and his status as a convicted felon. In 2011, Clark had pleaded guilty to felony possession of a controlled substance and other offenses, leading to an eventual conviction and probation.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Tulsa Police Department were involved in the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mallory Richard and Jessica Wright led the prosecution.

This case is part of the broader Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence. The program, updated in May 2021, emphasizes community trust, support for violence prevention organizations, strategic enforcement, and accountability in results.
