A man from Arlington has been sentenced for fentanyl trafficking in a Boston federal court. Cerone Davis, 31, known to be associated with the Heath Street Gang, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper to one year in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl in January 2025.

"Davis was arrested on or about June 8, 2023," while carrying several individually packaged bags of fentanyl at the Mildred C. Hailey Apartments, a public housing complex in Jamaica Plain. At the time, he was already on supervised release following a prior federal conviction for distributing cocaine in the same complex. It was noted that he was under specific orders to avoid the area from his previous conviction.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; James M. Ferguson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boston Field Division; and Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox. The Boston Housing Authority Police Department and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office supported the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Hoefle prosecuting the case.

This case is part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Strike Force Initiative. This initiative offers a framework for creating permanent teams from multiple agencies, allowing them to work collectively on multi-jurisdictional operations to disrupt and dismantle major drug traffickers and criminal organizations. OCDETF uses "a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach" to address high-level threats. More information on the OCDETF program can be found at the Justice Department's website.
