A man from Rapid City, South Dakota, has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for Failure to Appear in court. The sentencing, announced by United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell, was handed down by U.S. District Judge Camela C. Theeler on March 31, 2025.

Patrick Brewer, Sr., age 49, will serve three years and one month consecutively to a 46-month sentence related to a 2024 assault charge. Additionally, he is required to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

In August 2024, Brewer was indicted for Failure to Appear following his absence at the appointed time to begin his sentence for domestic violence assault. After failing to self-surrender, a search ensued, and he was located by the U.S. Marshals Service in December 2024. The court underscored Brewer's lack of respect for the law and the court's order when sentencing him to an additional 37 months, resulting in a total incarceration period of 83 months.

The U.S. Marshals Service carried out the investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Lindrooth prosecuted the case. Brewer was subsequently taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service immediately following his sentencing.
