Eric C. Jackson, a 33-year-old resident from San Diego, California, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his involvement in a drug-trafficking organization. The organization was responsible for distributing methamphetamine in Onondaga County and other parts of Central New York.
The announcement came from United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III and Frank A. Tarentino III, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) New York Division.
During his guilty plea, Jackson admitted participating in the conspiracy from June 2020 to April 2021. He was involved in distributing methamphetamine that was transported from California to Central New York. Jackson's role included arranging travel for his coconspirators between New York and California and personally transporting large sums of narcotics proceeds. He acknowledged carrying tens of thousands of dollars in drug money on flights from Syracuse to San Diego.
United States Senior District Judge David N. Hurd issued a sentence that also includes a five-year term of supervised release after Jackson completes his prison term.
The investigation was carried out by the DEA, U.S. Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI), New York State Police-Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (NYSP-VGNET), Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office, Syracuse Police Department, Oklahoma City Police Department, and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office. The prosecution is led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew J. McCrobie.
