An Ohio woman has been sentenced to 98 months in a federal prison for trafficking methamphetamine and carrying a firearm during the operation. The defendant, Betty Ann Rosenbeck, aged 42 from Huber Heights, Ohio, earlier pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute a significant quantity of methamphetamine and possessing a firearm to further a drug trafficking crime.
According to court records, on July 17, 2023, law enforcement stopped Rosenbeck's vehicle in Bristol, Virginia. During the stop, a K9 officer indicated the presence of narcotics, leading officers to discover digital scales, multiple plastic baggies, and a handgun magazine.
Law enforcement conducted a controlled drug purchase from Rosenbeck approximately ten days later, acquiring about one ounce of methamphetamine in exchange for $350 at a residence in Bristol. Subsequently, on August 11, 2023, authorities received information that she would return to Virginia after obtaining methamphetamine from Dayton, Ohio.
Following this intel, on August 12, 2023, law enforcement apprehended Rosenbeck in Abingdon, Virginia, while executing federal search warrants. During the search, officers found 441.8 grams of methamphetamine with a purity of 84 percent, concealed in four plastic bags within Rosenbeck's undergarments, alongside a loaded 9 mm handgun hidden in her tights. Additionally, a glass pipe, a clear baggy with drug residue, and a ledger noting names and amounts were recovered.
The announcement of the sentencing was made by Acting United States Attorney Zachary T. Lee and Ibrar A. Mian, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Washington Division. The investigation was a collaborative effort by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Virginia State Police, Holston River Drug Task Force, and Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
