A Bridgeport man has been charged with child exploitation offenses, according to a federal criminal complaint. Onai Kedar Wilbur Wright, 25, appeared before a U.S. Magistrate and has been detained since his arrest on related state charges on March 14, 2025. Wright faces charges of sexual exploitation of children and transportation of a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

As described in court records, an FBI Online Covert Employee, part of the Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force in Cleveland, monitored a live video stream on "Fambase" and witnessed Wright's involvement in sexually explicit activities with a 16-year-old girl. This led investigators to a residence in Norwich, Connecticut, where Wright was apprehended.

The charges against Wright carry significant potential penalties, including a mandatory minimum of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years for sexual exploitation, and a mandatory minimum of 10 years to life for transportation with criminal intent.

Acting U.S. Attorney Marc H. Silverman emphasized, "a complaint is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt," highlighting that charges are allegations and a defendant remains innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The investigation is being carried out by the FBI divisions in New Haven and Cleveland, supported by local law enforcement and attorney offices. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nancy V. Gifford is prosecuting the case, with acknowledgment given to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio for their assistance.

This case is part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood Initiative, which aims to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation. Further information on the initiative is available on www.justice.gov/psc, and cases of child exploitation can be reported through www.cybertipline.com.
