A Laredo man has confessed to robbing Falcon International Bank, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei. Adrian Hernandez, 42, admitted to the offense, which took place on June 10, 2024, at the bank located at 212 Bob Bullock Loop in Laredo.
Hernandez approached the bank teller and handed over a note that read, “this is a bank robbery, give me all the money.” He had a gray shirt wrapped around his hand, giving the appearance of concealing a weapon. The teller, following protocol, activated the silent alarm and handed Hernandez a brown paper bag containing money from her drawer, including bait money. Hernandez then left in his car.
Law enforcement officers identified Hernandez’s vehicle parked at a motel. They attempted a felony stop, but Hernandez fled, leading to a pursuit. The chase ended when Hernandez collided with a chain-link fence near Salinas Avenue. During the arrest, Hernandez was wearing the same clothing seen in the bank's security footage.
Officers discovered a large amount of cash, a yellow note, and a blue marker inside Hernandez’s car. He will be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Marina Garcia Marmolejo at a later date. Hernandez could face up to 20 years in federal prison and a possible $250,000 fine. Until the sentencing, Hernandez remains in custody.
The investigation was carried out by the FBI, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Mike Makens prosecuting the case.
