Attorney General Ken Paxton has initiated a legal petition for depositions of key officials within the Dallas Independent School District. This step is part of an investigation into allegations that the district may be permitting biological males to compete in girls' sports, a potential violation of Texas law.

In February, Paxton requested comprehensive records from Dallas ISD. This request was prompted by evidence suggesting the district might have an unwritten policy encouraging students to modify their birth certificates to bypass the law prohibiting participation in sports designated for the opposite biological sex.

Individuals facing depositions include Dallas ISD Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde, LGBT Youth Program Coordinator Mahoganie Gaston, and the Board of Trustees members. Mahoganie Gaston has been recorded telling a parent that a male student could compete in female sports if the birth certificate was adjusted to reflect the opposite gender. Gaston has also stated the district actively seeks loopholes and expressed her willingness to face legal consequences for defying state law.

“School districts must follow the law, keep our children safe, and end these insane ‘gender theory’ policies that ignore reality and encourage illegal actions. ISD officials who have participated in this madness will be held accountable,” said Attorney General Paxton. “The systematic effort by Dallas ISD officials to circumvent Texas law will be exposed and stopped.”
