Jason T. Scruggs, a 42-year-old resident of Clinton, Michigan, has been sentenced to nine years in prison following his involvement in a drug trafficking operation. Court documents indicate that Scruggs, also known by aliases "Rock" and "Roc," played a significant role in moving substantial amounts of controlled substances between Detroit, Michigan, and Clarksburg, West Virginia.
During a traffic stop on one of Scruggs' journeys, authorities seized 443 grams of methamphetamine and over 50 grams of fentanyl. Scruggs was known to have recruited others to partake in the distribution activities. His criminal history includes prior convictions related to firearms, domestic violence, retail fraud, assault with a dangerous weapon, and breaking and entering.
Following his prison term, Scruggs will be under supervised release for an additional three years. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christie Utt, with investigative efforts supported by the Greater Harrison Drug Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Harrison County Sheriff's Office.
Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the sentencing proceedings.
