Stacyann M. Haylett of Manchester, Connecticut, entered a guilty plea before U.S. District Judge Sarala V. Nagala in Hartford to charges of making a false statement during a firearm purchase. Acting U.S. Attorney Marc H. Silverman and James Ferguson of the ATF Boston Field Division shared the announcement.

Court records indicated that Haylett acted as a straw purchaser for a felon unable to legally purchase or possess firearms. On May 15, 2021, she acquired a Glock Model 20, 10mm pistol at a gun dealer in Middletown, falsely asserting on ATF Form 4473 that she was the actual buyer.

Law enforcement later retrieved the firearm from a fentanyl dealer in New Haven on October 10, 2023. Haylett had been arrested on July 15, 2024.

Sentencing is set for July 9, where Haylett could face up to 10 years in prison. She remains free on a $25,000 bond as she awaits sentencing.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is leading the investigation. Prosecuting attorneys include Robert S. Dearington and Sean P. Mahard, along with trial attorneys from the Department's Criminal Division.

The prosecution forms part of initiatives such as the Justice Department's Violent Crime Initiative in Hartford, as well as efforts under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force and Project Safe Neighborhood programs.
