On March 26, 2025, Clarence White, a resident of Prichard, was sentenced to 151 months in prison for illegally possessing a firearm. The sentencing follows his guilty plea to the charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. White will also undergo a 3-year term of supervised release. This case was presided over by United States District Court Judge Callie V. S. Granade.
The incident leading to White's arrest occurred on October 23, 2023, when officers from the Mobile Police Department approached his residence with warrants. According to court records, White fired a gun from inside his home, nearly hitting an officer. His criminal history includes convictions for attempted murder, possession of a controlled substance, and assault, all of which disallow him from owning a firearm.
U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello from the Southern District of Alabama announced the sentencing. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives in cooperation with the Mobile Police Department.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a national program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by fostering collaboration between law enforcement and communities.
