A Newburyport resident has admitted to defrauding a home repair insurance provider by submitting claims for repair work that was never conducted. Christian Decristofaro, 40, pleaded guilty in federal court in Boston to wire fraud charges. The sentencing is set for June 23, 2025, by U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani.

Decristofaro's scheme involved his company, NE Premier Home Services LLC (NE Premier), enrolling as a contractor with the victim insurance provider. He created false identities to sign up non-existent homeowners for insurance plans and reported fake home emergencies. NE Premier would then bill the insurance provider for repairs that were not performed. Between October 2020 and June 2023, this resulted in payments of approximately $2,196,323 to NE Premier.

Wire fraud carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison, along with supervised release and financial penalties. Sentencing will be based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Jodi Cohen, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Boston Division. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Meghan C. Cleary and Leslie A. Wright are handling the prosecution.
