Two individuals, Kevin Williams and Byron Wilson, have been arrested in connection with a robbery at a jewelry store in Hartsdale, New York. The incident occurred on December 16, 2024, when the suspects allegedly stole approximately $1.7 million worth of jewelry. The arrests were announced by Matthew Podolsky, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

The defendants were apprehended in New Jersey and are scheduled to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Judith C. McCarthy in White Plains federal court. "As alleged, Kevin Williams and Byron Wilson, along with their co-conspirators, carried out the violent robbery of a jewelry store in broad daylight," said Acting U.S. Attorney Matthew Podolsky.

According to the complaint, Williams and Wilson traveled from New Jersey to New York using a stolen vehicle with a stolen license plate. Upon arrival at the Westchester Square shopping plaza jewelry store around 11:07 a.m., they reportedly used sledgehammers to break into the store while customers sought safety. They then proceeded to steal jewelry, diamonds, and luxury watches valued at about $1.7 million before fleeing back to New Jersey.

After returning to New Jersey, it is alleged that Williams went to the Diamond District in New York City while Wilson returned home. Later that day, both suspects were seen taking photographs with large amounts of cash.

Kevin Williams and Byron Wilson face charges of conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery and Hobbs Act robbery. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment if convicted.

The investigation was conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Westchester Safe Streets Task Force and Newark Field Office, as well as local police departments from Nassau County and Greenburgh Town.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Reyhan Watson is leading the prosecution for this case being handled by the Office’s White Plains Division. It is important to note that these charges are accusations and both defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
