Joshua White, a 47-year-old resident of Albany County, has been sentenced to over 12 years in prison for distributing and possessing child sexual abuse material. The announcement was made by United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III and Erin Keegan, Special Agent in Charge of the Buffalo Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

White admitted to sending sexually explicit images of a minor he knew via text message. When confronted by police in July 2023, he had additional illegal content on his phone obtained from the Internet and social media messaging apps.

Alongside his prison sentence, White must undergo 20 years of supervision post-release, register as a sex offender, forfeit property used in the crime, and pay $5,000 in restitution to the victim.

The case was investigated by HSI and the New York State Police and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael D. Gadarian under Project Safe Childhood. This initiative is designed to tackle child exploitation through collaboration between federal, state, and local agencies.
