Yankton County Drug & DUI Court will hold a graduation ceremony on March 26, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. CDT in Courtroom A of the Yankton County Courthouse and Safety Center. Participants who have completed all phases of the treatment court program will be honored with friends and family present. The public is invited to attend, and a reception will follow.
Tessa Myers, a counselor with Ebel Recovery Center, will be the guest speaker. Myers is known for her dedication to helping individuals struggling with substance use issues.
The Yankton County Drug & DUI Court provides an alternative to traditional criminal case processing through a court-managed intervention treatment program. It aims to reduce crime related to substance dependence via intensive treatment, supervision, and judicial intervention. Eligible participants must commit to the entire program.
Treatment courts are recognized as effective strategies for addressing substance use and mental health disorders while reducing recidivism and saving taxpayer dollars. These courts demonstrate that supervision combined with treatment can help individuals achieve stability and recovery.
