Gregory Magin, a 44-year-old resident of Glenville, New York, has been arrested on charges related to the distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The arrest was announced by United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III and Craig L. Tremaroli, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Albany Field Office.

The criminal complaint against Magin alleges that he distributed CSAM videos online between July 18 and July 20, 2024. According to the complaint, Magin shared these videos with other users on an online chat application to gain access to certain groups. It is important to note that these charges are accusations at this stage, and Magin is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Magin appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Daniel J. Stewart in Albany last Friday and was ordered detained pending a detention hearing set for Tuesday, March 18.

The investigation into this case is being conducted by the FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force with support from the New York State Police. Assistant United States Attorney Allen J. Vickey is handling the prosecution as part of Project Safe Childhood.

Project Safe Childhood is a national initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006. It aims to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse through coordinated efforts by federal, state, and local agencies. The project focuses on locating and prosecuting individuals who exploit children online while also identifying and rescuing victims.
