Edgardo Amador-Rodriguez, a 27-year-old Honduran national, has been indicted for re-entering the United States after being deported. The indictment was filed on March 13, 2025, as announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson.

The charges stem from an incident on or about March 7, 2025, when Amador-Rodriguez was found in the Eastern District of Louisiana after his previous deportation on June 8, 2018. If convicted of re-entry of a removed alien under Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a), he faces up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Additionally, he could be subject to one year of supervised release and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.

Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson emphasized that an indictment is merely a charge and that guilt must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Simpson acknowledged the efforts of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency along with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office in investigating this case. Assistant United States Attorney Carter K.D. Guice Jr., from the General Crimes Unit, is leading the prosecution.

This case falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators. The operation utilizes resources from the Department's Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
