Andrew Thomas Edwards, a 44-year-old resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender. The announcement was made by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
According to the indictment, Edwards had previous felony convictions in Oklahoma for lewd molestation on September 20, 2011, indecent exhibition of child pornography on November 15, 2001, and another lewd molestation charge on January 28, 2015. These convictions required him to register as a sex offender. However, from June 4, 2024, until September 21, 2024, Edwards did not comply with this requirement while entering or residing in Indian country within the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The case was investigated by the United States Marshals Service and the Muskogee Police Department. U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Edwards' plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and ordered a presentence investigation report. Edwards will remain in custody under the United States Marshals Service until sentencing.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessie K. Pippin represented the prosecution.
