Hugo resident pleads guilty to failing to register as sex offender

Donovan Tyler Ray, a 33-year-old resident of Hugo, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma made the announcement.

According to the indictment, Ray was convicted of second-degree rape in Oklahoma in 2020 and was required by law to register as a sex offender. However, from November 21, 2024, until January 3, 2025, he did not comply with registration requirements while entering, leaving, or residing in Indian country within the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The case was investigated by the United States Marshals Service. U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted Ray's plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. Until sentencing, Ray will remain in custody under the United States Marshals Service.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessie K. Pippin represented the prosecution.
