Tyjuan McNeal, 27, has entered a guilty plea in U.S. District Court related to the burglary of 34 firearms from a Maryland pawn shop in December 2023. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr., ATF Special Agent in Charge Anthony Spotswood of the Washington Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department.

McNeal admitted guilt to one count of conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking. His sentencing is set for June 17, 2025, as determined by U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson.

Court documents reveal that on December 13, 2023, McNeal and at least four others traveled from Washington, D.C., to A&D Pawn Shop in Glen Burnie, Maryland. During the crime, McNeal wore an ankle monitor wrapped in aluminum foil.

The group used tools such as a portable saw and a crowbar-type tool to breach security measures at the pawn shop before stealing various rifles, shotguns, and pistols totaling at least 34 firearms. These stolen items were later advertised for sale on social media platforms.

McNeal was apprehended on March 22, 2024, with a Glock 29 pistol and has remained detained since his arrest. Co-defendants Vincent Lee Alston and Niquan Odum both pleaded guilty on March 6, 2025; Alston to conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking and Odum to conspiracy to commit theft from a firearms licensee and possession of stolen firearms. Another co-defendant Juwon Markel Anderson pleaded guilty on March 4 to conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking.

The investigation is being conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives along with the Metropolitan Police Department with support from the ATF Baltimore Field Division. The case is prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Shehzad Akhtar and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Lipes.
