Attorney General Raúl Labrador has announced the conviction of Charles Derrick Bronson, aged 43, for possessing child pornography. Bronson was found guilty of one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Child by Possession of Sexually Exploitative Material, a felony that carries a potential sentence of up to ten years in prison. The sentencing took place on March 11, 2025, with Ada County District Judge Nancy Baskin presiding.
“We will not stop pursuing those predators who exploit and abuse children in our communities,” stated Attorney General Labrador. “Our statewide network of law enforcement partners is growing, and I am proud of the hard work our prosecutors and investigators do to protect the kids of Idaho. Their dedication delivers results.”
The investigation began in July 2024 when an undercover officer from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit detected thousands of files containing child sexual abuse material being downloaded from an IP address linked to Bronson's residence in Ada County. A CyberTip also pointed to an online account owned by Bronson that contained similar materials. Following search warrants, officers discovered hundreds of such files on Bronson’s computer, depicting minor females as young as infants engaged in sex acts with adult men.
Judge Baskin sentenced Bronson to ten years in prison. He will be eligible for parole after serving two years and will be required to register as a sex offender upon release according to Idaho law.
The case was investigated by Detective Jim Bohr from the Meridian Police Department, who is part of the Attorney General’s ICAC Unit. Deputy Attorney General Madison Allen prosecuted the case.
