A federal grand jury in Salt Lake City has indicted Dennis L. Dyches, a 57-year-old man from Salt Lake County, Utah, on charges of robbing multiple credit unions over five months. The indictment follows a complaint filed on March 4, 2025.

Court documents allege that Dyches committed robberies at five different credit unions across the Salt Lake Valley between October 2024 and February 2025, with one institution being targeted twice. On October 11, 2024, Dyches allegedly robbed the Mountain America Credit Union in Murray, Utah. Five days later, he reportedly robbed a Golden West Credit Union in West Jordan, Utah. During this incident, he allegedly handed a note to the teller stating: “Give me the money and no one will get hurt.” The teller complied with the demand.

On November 20, 2024, Dyches is accused of entering a Granite Credit Union in Midvale, Utah and handing over a note reading: “This is a robbery, open the drawer, don’t talk to anyone, don’t push the button.” The teller again complied. In December 2024 and February 2025, Dyches allegedly targeted an America First Credit Union located inside Macey’s grocery store in Murray twice.

The most recent alleged robbery occurred on February 27, 2025 at an America First Credit Union inside Dan’s Foods grocery store in Salt Lake City. During this incident, Dyches reportedly showed a note saying: “This is robbery” and “Give me everything.” Surveillance footage captured him leaving in a black Jeep Cherokee traced back to his family member.

Dyches was arrested without incident on March 4, 2025. A search of his vehicle revealed clothing and accessories matching descriptions from the robberies.

He faces six counts of credit union robbery with an initial court appearance scheduled for March 13 at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse in Salt Lake City.

Acting United States Attorney Felice John Viti for the District of Utah announced the indictment. The FBI's Salt Lake City Field Office is investigating the case while prosecution is handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah.

This case forms part of Operation Take Back America—a Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators.

It should be noted that an indictment represents only allegations; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in court.
