David Metcalf has assumed the role of Interim United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The White House recently announced President Trump's nomination of Mr. Metcalf for a four-year term as U.S. Attorney for the district.
Mr. Metcalf's career includes his most recent position as corporate counsel at Amazon, focusing on government and regulatory litigation. His previous experience encompasses serving as a federal prosecutor with the Department of Justice, where he was an Assistant United States Attorney in both this office and the District of Maryland. In Maryland, he held the position of Deputy Chief of Appeals and received recognition for his work in prosecuting organized crime.
Additionally, Mr. Metcalf served in senior roles within the DOJ, acting as Senior Counsel to both the United States Deputy Attorney General and the United States Attorney General. Prior to his tenure at the DOJ, he was an associate at Covington & Burling LLP and clerked for Judge Albert Diaz on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
An alumnus of Princeton University and the University of Virginia School of Law, Mr. Metcalf expressed enthusiasm about his new role: “I’m pleased to once again serve the people of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania,” he stated. “I look forward to working with my colleagues here to uphold the rule of law and prosecute criminals who threaten our communities.”
