U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo has announced the arrest of Omid Kazemimanesh, a 38-year-old resident of Mississauga, Ontario. Kazemimanesh faces charges following his attempt to enter the United States with allegedly fraudulent documentation.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Franz M. Wright, Kazemimanesh attempted entry into the U.S. at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge Port of Entry on October 18, 2024. During this initial inspection, he claimed prior service in the Iranian Army but was unable to provide necessary documentation for verification. Consequently, he was denied entry and informed that military completion documents were required for future attempts.
On March 8, 2025, Kazemimanesh returned to the same port of entry with an Iranian military service card and discharge paperwork in hand. He asserted these documents were originals from the Iranian government provided shortly after his military service concluded with the Iran Army Ground Forces.
However, during secondary inspection by Customs and Border Protection officers, suspicions arose about the authenticity of his military card. Further investigation confirmed that the card was fraudulent.
The case is under investigation by Customs and Border Protection led by Director of Field Operations Rose Brophy and Homeland Security Investigations directed by Special Agent-in-Charge Erin Keegan.
Authorities remind that charges against a defendant are accusations until proven guilty in court.
