Checotah man convicted of illegal firearm possession by federal jury

Douglas Ray Lollis, Jr., a 31-year-old resident of Checotah, Oklahoma, has been convicted by a federal jury for illegally possessing a firearm. The verdict was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The trial began with jury selection on March 3, 2025, and concluded with the guilty verdict on March 4, 2025. Evidence presented during the trial revealed that Lollis had pawned a SAR 9mm pistol on December 22, 2022. At that time, he was legally prohibited from owning firearms due to a prior conviction for a crime punishable by more than one year in prison.

The investigation leading to Lollis's conviction was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White presided over the trial in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. He has ordered a presentence report before scheduling sentencing. Meanwhile, Lollis remains out on bond.
