Attorney General John M. Formella and Chief Kevin Rourke of the Nashua Police Department announce that Joshua Shea pled guilty and was sentenced today by the Hillsborough County Superior Court (Southern District) for the murder of Evangelos Ioannou on June 7, 2022.

Shea pled guilty to Second Degree Murder, in violation of RSA 630:1-b(I)(b), after admitting he recklessly, with extreme indifference to the value of human life, caused the death of Mr. Ioannou by repeatedly stabbing him inside his apartment and a common hallway in Nashua, NH.

After hearing statements from a number of Mr. Ioannou’s family and friends, the Court has sentenced Shea to a term of incarceration of 37 years to life with the possibility of parole in state prison. Shea also agreed to waive statutory relief under RSA 651:20, and both Shea and the State agreed to waive the right of sentence review.

This case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant Attorney General Benjamin J. Agati and Assistant Attorney General Bethany J. Durand with assistance from Victim Witness Specialist Bianca Monroe.
