A resident of St. Charles Parish, Darryl Davis, has pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson on February 27, 2025. Davis, aged 30, violated Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(1).
Court documents revealed that after reviewing Davis's social media postings about firearms, agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) began an investigation. This investigation found that Davis had two prior felony convictions and was aware he was prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was arrested on August 14, 2024, with a Glock Model 43X nine-millimeter semi-automatic pistol and ammunition.
Davis faces up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000.00, up to three years of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee. Sentencing is scheduled for May 27, 2025.
This case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence by uniting law enforcement at all levels with communities they serve to create safer neighborhoods. On May 26, 2021, the Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy as part of PSN based on core principles such as fostering trust in communities and supporting community-based organizations to prevent violence.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the investigation along with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Greg Kennedy from the Violent Crime Unit is prosecuting the case.
