Child support referee positions open in South Dakota's first and seventh judicial circuits

As of July 1, 2024, individuals serving as child support referees will receive a flat-fee compensation of $324 per case if they meet contract requirements. These referees are required to provide their own equipment, schedule hearings, and draft necessary documents. Courthouse space may be available if needed.

The positions are primarily intended for the First Judicial Circuit and Seventh Judicial Circuit but may include cases from other circuits across the state.

Candidates for these roles are recommended by the State Court Administrator to the Supreme Court for appointment. Upon approval, a contract is established between the referee and the Unified Judicial System.
