A Clairton resident has been sentenced in federal court for escaping from a residential reentry center. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced that Jamiel Green, 28, received a sentence of time served, approximately seven months.
United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon handed down the sentence. The case involved Green's escape while serving the final part of a 37-month prison term for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Green was staying at a residential reentry center meant to aid his transition back into society. In November 2023, he was given a work release pass but did not return as required and remained at large for several months until his arrest by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway represented the government in this case. Acting United States Attorney Rivetti praised the U.S. Marshals Service for their investigation leading to Green's prosecution.
