Attorney General Gentner Drummond has appointed 13-year-old Devarjaye "DJ" Daniel as an honorary agent for the Office of the Attorney General. DJ, who is from Texas, was recognized by President Trump during a joint session of Congress for his dream of becoming a police officer. Despite being diagnosed with terminal brain and spine cancer several years ago, DJ's determination to join law enforcement has been unwavering.
President Trump announced that DJ, who attended the congressional event, had been made an honorary U.S. Secret Service agent. Following this recognition, Drummond issued a commendation for DJ, acknowledging his story and resilience.
"I was moved by DJ’s story and inspired by his courage, tenacity and drive to be sworn into 100 law enforcement agencies," Drummond stated.
DJ's goal to be sworn into 100 agencies was surpassed long ago. Since his diagnosis, he has been inducted by nearly 900 law enforcement agencies across the country and internationally.
