U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo has announced that Rolando Antonio Rosado, a 59-year-old man from the Dominican Republic, has pleaded guilty to illegal re-entry after deportation. The plea was entered before Chief U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford in Rochester, New York.
Rosado has been sentenced to time served and transferred to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan K. McGuire, who managed the case, detailed Rosado's history with immigration authorities.
In June 2000, an immigration judge ordered Rosado's removal in absentia, but he did not comply with the order. On October 22, 2003, Rosado was arrested by the Rochester Police Department on charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Subsequently, he was physically removed from the United States in April 2004.
Despite his removal, Rosado illegally re-entered the United States near Laredo, Texas in 2014. He was later found in the Western District of New York on September 26, 2024.
The investigation leading to Rosado's plea and sentencing was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations under Special Agent-in-Charge Erin Keegan's direction.
