During National Consumer Protection Week, from March 3rd to 7th, the Office of Attorney General will focus on sharing information about its ongoing efforts to protect consumer rights. The office aims to educate people on how to detect, report, and avoid scams.

Throughout the week, consumer protection tips will be shared on social media. These include insights into the Bureau of Consumer Protection’s work over the past year, as well as details about the Civil Rights Enforcement Section and Health Care Section. Additionally, advice will be offered on purchasing used cars and identifying scams.

"One of the core functions of the Office of Attorney General is to protect consumers," said Attorney General Dave Sunday. "During National Consumer Protection Week, I want all Pennsylvanians to understand the resources available to them if they believe they may be a victim of fraud." He added that in 2024, their office helped consumers save and recover more than $16 million.

In detail, the Bureau of Consumer Protection saved consumers over $11.8 million through mediation efforts last year and secured $4.8 million in restitution via legal actions.

Attorney General Sunday emphasized some key consumer protection measures taken in 2024. If individuals feel wronged by a business, they are encouraged to file a complaint with the Bureau of Consumer Protection using various methods available online.
