Gabriel Charron, a 53-year-old resident of Milton, Vermont, has been sentenced to 132 months in prison for attempting to entice a minor online. Following his prison term, he will be subject to 20 years of supervised release. The sentencing was announced by Acting United States Attorney Daniel Hanlon and Craig L. Tremaroli, Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office of the FBI.
Charron pleaded guilty to exchanging sexually explicit messages between May 2022 and March 4, 2023, with individuals he believed were a mother and her 11-year-old daughter. His intention was to engage the child in sexual acts. On March 4, 2023, Charron traveled from Vermont to Albany County, New York, intending to meet the girl at a hotel for these purposes but was arrested upon arrival.
Upon his release from prison, Charron will be required to register as a sex offender.
The case was investigated by the FBI's Albany office and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Belliss under Project Safe Childhood. This initiative by the Department of Justice began in May 2006 and focuses on locating and prosecuting those who exploit children via the Internet while also identifying and rescuing victims.
