In response to increasing debate and dissatisfaction surrounding wind farms in rural Oklahoma, Attorney General Gentner Drummond has introduced a new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section on the agency's website. The FAQs aim to clarify the regulatory powers of voters and locally elected officials concerning wind, solar, and other renewable energy construction projects.
"I am hearing concerns from Oklahomans all across our state about the development of wind farms and similar projects, everything from the noise they generate to their impact on property values," Drummond stated. "Our Frequently Asked Questions were developed to help individuals understand how these projects are regulated and what can be done about them."
Drummond noted that local regulation of wind farms is becoming more common nationwide. These regulations include bans, moratoriums, and other measures aimed at deterring development.
The controversy over wind farms has also led to numerous legislative proposals being considered during this session.
