Terric Zaire Williams, a 25-year-old resident of Akron, Ohio, received a six-year prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The sentencing was announced in Charleston, West Virginia.

Court documents revealed that on March 29, 2023, law enforcement executed a search warrant at a Charleston apartment where Williams was staying. During the search, officers found three-quarters of a pound of methamphetamine in a dining room trash can and living room closet. Williams admitted to possessing the drugs and intending to distribute them.

During the operation, officers also arrested Emariel Kanay Tyler, Williams' girlfriend. She was found with a firearm outline visible in her pants and had cash and suspected drugs protruding from her jacket pockets. Tyler, aged 20 and also from Akron, pleaded guilty on November 18, 2024, to using communication facilities to facilitate drug trafficking. Her sentencing is scheduled for March 5, 2025.

Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston praised the investigative efforts of the Charleston Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lesley C. Shamblin under the supervision of United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston.
