James Mansfield Davis, a 68-year-old resident of Morgantown, West Virginia, has confessed to not surrendering for his federal sentence. Court documents and statements reveal that Davis was sentenced to 82 months in federal prison on a child pornography charge in the Northern District of West Virginia. However, he failed to report to prison and was later arrested on October 15, 2024, in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Davis now faces the possibility of an additional 10 years in prison. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge who will consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines along with other statutory factors.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Christie Utt is handling the prosecution for the government. The United States Marshals Service conducted the investigation into this case. Proceedings were overseen by U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi.
